If you've got a bunch of MIDI files or karaoke tracks sitting around, MIDI Clef turns your phone into a surprisingly capable music workstation. I mostly use it to mess around with old game soundtracks—you can tweak instruments, slow down tricky parts, or even plug in a MIDI keyboard if you're feeling fancy.

The lyrics sync up nicely with karaoke files, and I like that you can change fonts and backgrounds so it doesn't look like a spreadsheet. The EQ and effects are decent enough for practice, though don't expect pro DAW-level stuff. Weirdly handy feature: it keeps playing if you switch to another app, so you can glance at sheet music or lyrics elsewhere.

It handles all the obscure formats I've thrown at it (even some tracker files from the 90s), and the SoundFont support means you're not stuck with awful default instrument sounds. Just know you'll need to supply your own files—this is a player, not a music library.

Honestly, it's one of those apps that does way more than you'd expect from a mobile tool. If you regularly work with MIDIs or karaoke tracks, it's worth the download.
